In Southern California two brush fires exploded in the hills of Ventura County on Thursday afternoon.

Homes were burned and highways were closed as firefighters rushed to try and get the flames under control.

The blaze is just miles from from Thousand Oaks, which was the scene of a deadly mass shooting that claimed 12 lives Wednesday night.

One fire has been dubbed the Woolsey Fire and by Friday it had grown to more than 4,000 acres and was at a zero percent containment.

Ventura County are officials also issued mandatory evacuation orders for Oak Park in Thousand Oaks.

Smoke could be seen over the area where the candlelight vigil was held for the victims of the shooting at Borderline Bar & Grill.

@Preggomermaid tweeted: “Happy my dad is safe from shooting but now his backyard is on fire in Thousand Oaks.

“Please please pray. I’m out of state and worried sick all night and now again tonight.”
