In the bleak, bitter cold winter of 1777, at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, the encamped troops of General George Washington were gloomy, nearly defeated, and forlorn.

They were in despair and things did not look good for the ragtag, newly created nation.

The revolutionary war was decidedly not going their way.

Night was closing in…

Contrary to what is taught in our schools today, the Founding Fathers, to a person, were not secular or atheist in the least.

George Washington, like the overwhelming majority of those Founders, all who signed the Declaration of Independence, were Christians in both principle and practice.

We need to recall and understand that those leaders, who were responsible for the very birth of America, actively practiced the Christian faith.

They had a profoundly theological understanding of — hope.

In this, our hour of need, we too should abide in the steadfastness of their faith.

For me, one of the most inspiring and iconic portrayals of American history and patriotism is that of George Washington on his knees in the snow at Valley Forge.

“That moving image personifies and testifies to our Founder’s dependence upon Divine Providence during the darkest hours of our Revolutionary struggle,” aptly once said President Ronald Reagan.

The following excerpt was taken from Nathaniel Randolph Snowden’s (1770-1851) “Diary and Remembrances, who was with the Quaker, Isaac Potts when he recounted where he found General George Washington praying alone in the woods at Valley Forge.

“In that woods, pointing to a close in view, I heard a plaintive sound as of a man at prayer. I tied my horse to a sapling & went quietly into the woods & to my astonishment, I saw the great George Washington on his knees alone, with his sword on one side and his cocked hat on the other. He was at Prayer to the God of the Armies, beseeching to interpose with his Divine aid, as it was ye Crisis, & the cause of the country, of humanity & of the world. Such a prayer I never heard from the lips of man. I left him alone praying.”

On November 6, of the Year of Our Lord, 2018, our country stands on a similar precipice.

On one side lie a renewal of its spirit and the revitalization of its great historic mission.

On the other, a turning away, into an abyss of godless socialism and radical secularism, clothed in leftist hatred of everything George Washington stood for; of everything Reagan reflected; of everything God breathed into our very Founding.

We cannot turn our backs and deny our maker and His will for our exceptional country, this unique“city on a hill,”a beacon to all peoples, regardless of color, gender, ethnicity or creed. Lincoln called America,“mankind’s last best hope on earth.”

Pray with all the saints in heaven that His justice will reign down and that His people, “We the American people”, as proclaimed in the preamble to our Constitution, realize the victory; that we will — keep our Republic.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquillity, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.

Vote Republican and March Onward…
