The Trump campaign transformed a Monday night rally into an all-day tailgate after roughly 100,000 people who RSVP’d for a limited number of tickets to see the president speak in Houston, Texas, in support of his one-time enemy Ted Cruz.

Supporters of the president began lining up outside of Houston’s Toyota Center a full 24 hours before the rally’s start time, camping out overnight to reserve their seats, ahead of the tailgate that Trump’s reelection committee announced mid-day Sunday.

The area was serviced by food trucks and live music began at 9 am CDT outside the event the president is holding to campaign for Cruz – a man he once called Lyin’ Ted but who is looking for the president to help him against Democratic opponent Beto O’Rourke.

Once booked for an arena in Houston that could seat 8,000 people, the event has changed venues and is now expected to reach maximum capacity of 19,000.

The Toyota Center, which is home to the Houston Rockets, can seat just over 18,000 people, according to the venue’s website, and cram 1,000 more into the floor space.

Trump’s campaign says it moved from NRG Arena to the large indoor space after a ‘HUGE’ and ‘unprecedented’ request for tickets that exceeded 100,000 responses.

‘This will be an epic rally,’ campaign manager Brad Parscale said in a tweet.

Parscale told Trump supporters, ‘My great team is setting up the first ever TAILGATER for outside. So everyone come, room for everyone. Come see @realDonaldTrump inside or out!’

The Trump campaign says it’s setting up big screens outside in an overflow area for unlucky supporters who showed up too late to watch the president’s remarks tonight at 6:30 PM local time.

‘Inside and out, the excitement at this Trump rally will be as big as Texas – it’s going to be epic,’ Michael Glassner, the Chief Operating Officer for the campaign, said in a release.

The president signaled that he was amped up for the rally in support of Cruz, as well, tweeting on Monday morning: ‘Big Night In Texas!!!!’
