The French President was dubbed France’s first “manager-president” by French media after intimate details of his bizarre behaviour towards his government were published.

His approval ratings are now as low as beleaguered former leader Francois Hollande when he began to decend out of the Presidency, according to a poll that showed 33 percent of voters approave of his actions compared with 67 that do not.

In a flurry of embarrassing articles it was revealed the 40-year-old colour-codes his diary, sends 2am text messages to members of his parliament, handles all communication personally and interferes in minor matters to seize any breadcrumbs of power left in the wake of his interior minister’s resignation.

He also bans staff talking to French media without first his consent in signs the president’s power machine is spinning out of control less than 18 months since he won the election.

Interior Minister Gérard Collomb announced he was stepping down to run for his old job as mayor of Lyon earlier this week despite the president, who he had loyally supported, refusing to accept his notice.

Mr Collomb’s desire to leave government “as soon as possible” would undermine Mr Macron’s legitimacy, it was claimed. His departure added to mounting disharmony towards a president whose approval ratings are now as low as his predecessor François Hollande at 30 percent.

This, insiders say, could also be in part down to Mr Macron running such a tight ship while in office.

Mr Collomb breached Mr Macron’s media consent rule before jumping ship to make the astonishing declaration Mr Macron “lacked humanity”.

Mr Collomb told BFMTV: “When you become too sure of yourself at some point you think you can in everything.”
