An ex-NBA star and friend from Yale claims he never saw Brett Kavanaugh ‘blacked out drunk’ as the Supreme Court nominee faces allegations of alcohol-fuelled sexual assault.

Chris Dudley, who enjoyed an illustrious career in the NBA with several of the league’s biggest teams, told the Washington Post he and Kavanaugh would often drink at parties ‘just like every other college kid in America’.

‘I went out with him all the time. He never blacked out. Never even close to blacked out,’ said Dudley.

‘There was drinking, and there was alcohol. Brett drank, and I drank. Did he get inebriated sometimes? Yes. Did I? Yes. Just like every other college kid in America.’

Dudley, who later had his own flirtation with politics as a former Oregon gubernatorial candidate, said Kavanaugh was always ‘top of the class’ despite his drinking.

Kavanaugh, Donald Trump’s pick for the Supreme Court, is facing an inquiry into alleged sexual abuse after three women came forward over historical incidents.

Dudley is one of dozens of former classmates of Kavanaugh who leapt to the embattled judge’s defence over the allegations.

A letter sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday from 60 men and women who attended Georgetown Prep or sister schools in support of Kavanaugh.

In the letter the alumni, who all knew Brett Kavanaugh, called the latest allegations against him ‘nonsense’ and ‘reprehensible’.
