Hillary Clinton has predicted that Donald Trump will ‘wholesale fire’ members of his administration after the mid-term elections as she urged people to vote Democrat to ensure the President’s power will not run unchecked.
The former Secretary of State told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow that there are still Republicans willing to contradict Trump, but that situation may not last for long.
‘The President is close to being uncontrollable,’ she said.
‘At some point the American public has to say: Hold on, I may disagree with the Democrats, I may disagree with the direction of this administration, but one thing I believe in is checks and balances.’
Clinton was alluding to a New York Times editorial where an anonymous official spoke about a ‘resistance’ within the White House working to ‘frustrate [Trump’s] worst inclinations.’
‘To be clear, ours is not the popular ‘resistance’ of the left. We want the administration to succeed and think that many of its policies have already made America safer and more prosperous,’ the op ed said.
‘But we believe our first duty is to this country, and the president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic.’
