Nigel Farage said that election results in Sweden are part of a bigger overall trend within Europe.
Nationalist party the Sweden Democrats (SD) have seen a surge in backing, winning about 18 percent of the overall vote, up from 12.9 percent in the 2014 elections, with analysts
Speaking on his LBC show, Mr Farage declared: “A growing populist revolt is happening and yesterday it happened in Sweden.
“The central left block have 40 percent of the vote and the central right block have around 40 percent, and with 18 percent are the Sweden Democrats.
“Now this is a party that’s pretty national socialist. They’ve had enough of asylum seekers – Sweden has a population of 10 million and over the past 10 years nearly a million immigrants have come into that country.
“What happened in Sweden yesterday is part of a bigger overall trend – virtually every country has a rising Eurosceptic movement.”
Mr Farage then questioned the reason for this rise in Euroscepticism. He asked: “Is it about immigration, economics or resistance from rule from Brussels?
“This is about immigration more than any other factor – immigration and culture are the number one reason for why this is happening.”
