At least eight people were injured during two serious incidents in Paris within just 12 hours of each other.

This morning a man stabbed a postman in the throat with a pair of scissors then tried to attack other people nearby, as well. The attack took place in Paris’s 11th district, police sources say.

The incident comes less than 12 hours after an Afghan migrant commit a series of attacks with a knife and an iron bar, in Paris’s 19th Boulevard.

On Sunday evening around 10:00 p.m, in the Quai de la Loire district, the Afghan attacked several people with a knife and an iron bar.

The perpetrator, originally of Afghan origin, “attacked people who were unknown to him in the street,” a source tells newspaper Le Figaro.

A witness who was playing pétanque in a nearby park saw him assaulting people and tried to stop him by throwing pétanque balls at him.

The man fled before attacking two English tourists a little further away, at the Henri Nogueres street.

Witness Youssef Najah, who was walking along the canal nearby, saw a man “running with a 25-30 cm knife in his hand. There were about twenty people who pursued him; they threw pétanque balls at him. He took four to five balls on his head, but they could not stop him”.

Another witness told an AFP journalist:

“He had an iron bar in his hand and threw it at his pursuers, then took out a knife.”
