According to Greek news outlet Protothema, a 31 year-old Pakistani migrant was arrested by the Hellenic Police. The migrant is accused of having raped a 14 year-old boy, near the area of Corinth in Greece.

The boy had been “entrusted” to the migrant by his own mother from Albania. The woman, living permanently in Megara, knew the 31 year-old who worked in a local business employing foreigners throughout the year.

She had asked him to take her child with him to earn some money as a seasonal worker under his protection. But in the small hours of Friday 31 August, the boy called his mother, stating that the Pakistani raped him in the lodge where they lived.

Immediately, the boy’s mother went to the Corinth police station and reported what her son had told her. During the pre-trial investigation, the child was examined by a coroner, who found evidence of rape.

This resulted in the migrant being arrested. The investigation is ongoing by police, who are also investigating whether the accused Pakistani was previously involved in other crimes.

The perpetrator is charged with rape of a minor and will face trial soon.
