Police said the victim was walking along Moreton Avenue at around 1.30pm this afternoon when a masked man approached him and demanded his keys.

CCTV footage captured the terrifying moment the attacker wearing a black hoodie and black trousers began stabbing the victim after he refused to hand over the keys.

Horrified bystanders reported seeing a struggle as the knifeman attacked the man in his 20s outside a hairdressers and nail salon.

An eyewitness said the victim identified himself as an off-duty police officer and chased after his attacker after being stabbed.

West Midlands Police said the suspect fled the scene in a dark blue Ford Fiesta.

A statement from the force confirmed a man in his 20s had been rushed to hospital.

A spokesman said the victim’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life changing.

Witness Suki Kumari, who runs nearby Salon De Beaut, said: “The guy had just been to the post office for a drink when he was attacked just as he was getting in his mini.

“There was one guy with a mask on, and I think he was with another man as well, and they were saying ‘Give me the keys, give me the keys.'”When he refused he ran off and one bloke chased him and stabbed him with a knife, he seemed to have wrapped around a white bag to avoid fingerprints, I guess.
