LOMBOK has been hit by ten earthquakes of magnitude-5.0 or higher in the past 24 hours as Indonesia struggles to deal with the aftermath of a huge tremor that killed hundreds last week.

Nearly 500 people have died in quakes and aftershocks since July 29 across the northern coast of the island, which lies just east of Indonesia’s top tourist destination, Bali.
And on Sunday, another magnitude 6.9 tremor struck the region – killing at least 14 people.
More than 100 aftershocks have been recorded since Sunday night’s quake, which sent panicked residents into the streets and cut power and communication lines across the island.
3.55pm: 4.5 magnitude earthquake hits 64 km west of Sumbawa Besar
A 4.5 magnitude earthquake has struck 64km west of Sumbawa Besar on the Indonesian island of Sumbawa, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.
The quake, which hit at 2.45pm BST today, hit at a depth of 12km and was centered east of Lombok.
EMSC tweeted: “This is the 22th felt #earthquake in Lombok Region, Indonesia in the last 50 hours.”
The scientific agency added approximately 2.1 million people felt the tremor. No casualties are reported as of yet.
