Arsonists dressed in black torch election kiosk of Swedish right-wing party

Police have said that approximately ten “black-clad” people burned down the populist Sweden Democrat party’s election kiosk. A preliminary investigation into the incident has been initiated according to Peter Adlersson of the Western Regional Police, SVT reports.
Police spokesman Adlersson stated that “there were several tents there and there was a great risk of spreading to the tents as well.”
Sweden Democrats president in Gothenburg, Jörgen Fogelklou, said in a condemning statement: “It’s complete idiocy. They have put people’s lives and health at stake.”
“They are completely confused if they think the destruction of this material will make us quiet. The great cost will be paid to Gothenburg taxpayers. We have borrowed this tent from the city of Gothenburg,” Fogelklou added: “it was no ordinary tent, it was huge with electricity and a floor.”
He estimates the cost of materials in the tent could be as much as 10,000 Swedish kronor (£856) adding that the party will replace the damaged campaign materials soon.
The Swedish Greens released a statement which reads: “Even though we in the Green Party are far from Sweden Democrats’ policies, we strongly abstain from attempts to threaten, scare or destroy political opponents.”
Only days earlier an office of the Italian populist party La Lega, headed by Matteo Salvini, was bombed in Treviso. Far-left anarchists took responsibility for the bombing.
