Speakers at the Episcopal Church in Austin, Texas claimed “immediate revision” of the Holy Book is needed.

They suggest “overwhelming use of masculine language” is present throughout the ancient Christian text.

Most of those testifying claim too many “masculine nouns, pronouns or imagery” is used when depicting God.

The clergy – which features several transgender members – claims it is wrong to claim God is a man.

In a four-hour meeting, the religious group set out their plan to revise the Bible.

Members had been calling for a revision since 2015 – and now the Church plans to go ahead with the idea.

The church’s website details the plans: “Resolution A068 sets out a process of full prayer book revision, beginning in the next three years and culminating in a new authorized Book of Common Prayer in 2030.”

Six experts have been elected from the congregation to help guide the religious group through the process.

Kathleen Moore claimed God is bigger than any human construct and “gendered language gets in the way”.

Rev. Ruth Myers claimed to be uncomfortable and distressed at having to presider over a woman’s funeral using the words “he” and “him” as it implies being male is “normative”.
