Hawaii volcano update: Kilauea oozes fresh lava as MORE homes threatened
KILAUEA continues to spew lava across Hawaii’s volcanic Big Island and so far has managed to destroy more than 600 homes. A fresh lava flow now threatens more properties in the Kapoho Bay area of the county.

Hawaii’s recent eruption from Kilauea has now continued for more than a month and lava has swallowed whole neighbourhoods in Big Island.
Authorities have been quick to cordon off areas of the island and many homes will be forever lost in the maze of cooling lava.
Fissures 8 and 18 created by the volcano continue to spew lava and ash, with an established channel flowing down into the ocean.
A recent announcement from the Hawaii County Civil Defence Authority confirmed lava continues to move across the shoreline and threatens new properties.
Lava flow growing along the south side of Kapoho beach now threatens new properties in the area.
Kapoho Beach Lots is now under threat, and although officials say that no houses have been destroyed yet, they are prohibiting access by residents.
Scientists from the Hawaii Volcano Observatory have noticed that the established flow is oozing lava which is now overflowing from the channel.
These flows are making their way towards the homes of the Kapoho Bay lots.
The lava flows, occurring just after midnight yesterday, did not make it past the area where the flow exists at present.
Hawaii Civil Defence Authority has also warned that the lava flow is presenting threat via laze and other harmful gases.
Tourists on the island have been warned off taking photos in front of the river of lava coming from the volcano and various fissure.
Anyone seen breaking through barriers put down by Hawaiian authorities to take photos could receive a jail sentence, large fine, or both.
The latest warnings from the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory state that there has been little change within the volcano’s behaviour, and there is no end in sight.
