President Trump said on Tuesday that Kim Jong-un had already agreed to dismantle another nuclear test site as he pledged that denuclearisation would go ahead ‘very quickly’.

The President said the pair had struck an unofficial understanding that the North Korean leader would dismantle a second testing site after the official signing had taken place at the Singapore summit on Tuesday.

‘North Korea is already destroying a major missile engine testing site,’ the President told the assembled world’s media.

‘I got that after we signed the agreement,’ Mr. Trump said of the concession.

‘I said, “Do me a favor; we’ve got this missile-engine testing site. We know where it is because of the heat.” It’s incredible the equipment we have, to be honest with you.’

After the landmark summit with Kim, the President said North Korea would be progressing with the denuclearisation process ‘very quickly’ but warned that it might take ‘a very long time’.

‘We’re starting that process very quickly. Very, very quickly. Absolutely,’ he said.

‘Scientifically, denuclearisation takes a very long time.’

Trump did not give a location for the testing site, but reaffirmed his faith in the North Korean leader, adding: ‘I think he’s going to do these things.’

But experts have warned that the process of denuclearisation will need to be stringently policed by the US.

‘They’re not going to eliminate everything, and there’re some things that aren’t a problem. Some of the risks are manageable,’ federal adviser Siegfried S. Hecker said in an interview last month.
