In June 2017, a Security Commission was launched, to analyse and reduce crime in Sweden. Fredrik Reinfeldt, the country’s former Prime Minister, was appointed as leader and presented a first report on solving more crimes, Fria Tider reports.

In the commission’s report it is stated that more policemen are not the solution, because “other unused social actors can be activated to contribute to safety”.

It proposes that a so-called AMP model be introduced. In Swedish AMP stands for Business and Citizenship. It is based on the fact that the actors in an area take joint responsibility for the area in question to reduce crime and create a safe and secure environment.

When Reinfeldt was asked by a journalist how immigration to Sweden may have affected the degree of insecurity, he answers that his Security Commission does not care about who the offenders are.
