The Vatican will for the first time ever be represented at a secret gathering of the global elite.

Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State, will meet with 130 carefully selected individuals at the Bilderberg Group’s latest secret meeting in Turin, Italy.

It is the first time a high-ranking Vatican official has taken part in the Bilderberg Conferences.

Invitees are made up of politicians and industry leaders from the worlds of business, academia and media.

The cardinal’s participation in the four-day meeting was not officially announced by the Vatican, but sources within the Secretariat of State confirmed his presence.

Discussions at the event involving guests from 23 countries will focus on the likes of populism in Europe, fake news, Russia and ‘Artificial Intelligence’.

Participants in year the summit include the King of the Netherlands, the secretary general of NATO Jens Stoltenberg, Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary and the governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney.

About two thirds of attendees are from Europe with the rest from North America. Some 25 per cent are from the world of politics and government while the rest are from other sectors.

The Prime Minsters of Holland, Belgium, Serbia and Estonia will be there as well as the the Deputy Prime Ministers of Spain and Turkey, will be in the Italian city for the 66th annual policy get together.

Oil companies will turn out in force this year with senior executives of BP, Total and Shell are all in Turin for the talks along with the bosses of Google, Vodafone, Lazard, Santander, Airbus and Wall Street investment giant KKR

Governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, along with his Dutch counterpart, the head of the Bank of the Netherlands Klaas Knot will represent the world of public finance.

The Director General of DGSE, the French intelligence service will be there along with with formed CIA director of the , and the former head of MI6, John Sawers, now a board member of BP. The 95-year-old Henry Kissinger is also on the participant list.

Former chancellor George Osborne turned journalist and former Home Secretary, Amber Rudd, will also be at the summit.

The controversial conference, which was founded in 1954 by Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, is organised by the steering committee, which meets every autumn and spring, and is currently chaired by the Vice-Chairman of Nestlé, Henri de Castries. But per tradition, news outlets are not invited to cover the event.
