‘Italy and Hungary killed it’ Steve Bannon BOASTS about collapse of EU integration
STEVE Bannon has hailed the election of Italy’s populist coalition government and claimed the rise of the Five Star Movement (5SM) and Lega will spur a surge in protest eurosceptic votes at next year’s European Union elections.

Mr Bannon, former White House Chief Strategist for President Donald Trump, suggested the rise of resentment against the EU and migration in Europe would provoke a growing revolt against the bloc.
Speaking in Rome, Mr Bannon commented on the future of the EU, saying: “It’s not the end of the EU, but people want their nations back.”
Pointing to the rise of populism in Italy and Hungary, he cast doubt over Emmanuel Macron’s push for a more integrated Europe, stating: “His project is dead – Italy and Hungary killed it.”
Yet the former Breitbart News chief believes the success of Italy’s newly formed government lies in the alliance of the 5SM’s left-wing policies including increased spending on welfare, with Lega’s right-wing proposals which include “Reagnite” style tax cuts.
He suggested the US populist movement should learn from Italy’s success, stating: “If we could put Trump’s ‘deplorables’ together with Bernie Sanders’ economic nationalists, that would be a force which could govern America for many decades.
“Italy is all about nationalists v globalists and they are showing the world the way.”
He also praised Italy’s new Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the 5SM Luigi Di Maio, who has come under attack for his lack of political experience and bizarre career history which has included being football stadium steward.
He said: “It’s like in the American Civil War — Lincoln was a railroad lawyer and Grant was a drunken clerk in his father’s store.
