Members of the so-called Democratic Football Lad’s Alliance marched and demonstrated in the city, 11 days after the first anniversary of the Manchester Arena terror attack.

Many marchers shouted in support of Robinson, who was sentenced this week to 13 months at HMP Hull for contempt of court after filming himself outside a trial in Leeds Crown Court.

Yesterday almost 500 protestors marched in Leeds calling for the release of Robinson, 35, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon.

Bottles and smoke bombs were hurled at police outside the court where Robinson was arrested.

Some protestors were heard making racist chants as they marched through Leeds city centre.

Many chanted “BBC BBC!” in protest at the corporation’s coverage of Robinson.

The EDL founder’s video from outside Leeds Crown Court was viewed 250,000 times on his Facebook and almost led to the trial collapsing.

Fights broke out with passers-by during the Leeds rally, but police said no arrests were made.

Today’s march was expected to see up to 2,000 gather in Manchester.

Many waved England flats and lit flares as they marched through the city centre.

Marchers held up placards reading “Make Britain Great Again,” a reference to Donald Trump’s US presidential election-winning slogan.

Supporters wearing t-shirts with picture’s of Robinson’s face have brought streets to a standstill.
