A man in his 20s is fighting for life after being shot multiple times outside his home in Brent, north-west London, at around 8.30pm on Thursday night.

An unnamed eyewitness claimed the attacker used to “machine gun” to fire at hail of bullets at the victim in Lawrence Avenue, according to the Evening Standard.

The man, who was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital in a critical condition, was shot at least eight times, the witness claims.

Police found another man in his 20s with critical stabbing injuries just two hours later about a mile away in Rainborough Close.

Scotland Yard is investigating whether there is a link between the two attacks.

However, the Met Police said there was “no information” to verify eyewitness accounts that a machine gun had been used in the attack.

Another two men are also in hospital after separate knife attacks in London on Thursday and into the early hours of Friday.

A 23-year-old man stabbed in Deptford and a 30-year-old man found with stab injuries in the Old Kent Road have been taken to hopsital for treatment.

The spate of horrific violence comes as the capital struggles to come to terms with a rise in knife and gun crime that has prompted 70 murder investigations in 2018.
