More than 30 people have been injured after two buses collided in the Lincoln Tunnel on the Manhattan side.

One New Jersey Transit bus rear-ended another while exiting the tube just before 10am on Friday, according to Port Authority.

The New York City Fire Department said that 31 people are being transported to the hospital and though most of the injures are minor, eight people had serious injuries that are not life-threatening.

The collision happened at the entrance of the center tube of the tunnel that connects New York City to New Jersey.

According to NJ Transit, both buses were coming from New Jersey – one out of Wayne and the other out of Oradell.

One of the buses had 25 passengers on board and the other carried 37.

They crashed on the city’s west side near Dyer Avenue and West 40th street and both buses are currently outside of the tunnel.

Port Authority Police Department is investigating the incident and said the Lincoln Tunnel is open with delays.
