It looks like robots won’t be cooking our hamburgers anytime soon.

Flippy the burger-flipping robot has been fired from a CaliBurger restaurant in Pasadena after just one day on the job.

The robot attracted so much national interest that the CaliBurger was forced to take Flippy offline, as it was too slow to keep up with the crowds.

Now, a sign at the restaurant reads that Flippy will be ‘cooking soon’ and that his return date is ‘TBA,’ according to USA Today.

Flippy only started manning the grill at the CaliBurger restaurant this week.

Its creators, robotics firm Miso Robotics, had hoped to bring Flippy to 50 other CaliBurger locations across the U.S., including Seattle, Washington, DC and Annapolis, Maryland.

But it seems those plans for the artificial intelligence-driven robot will be put on hold for now.

Flippy has been switched off at the CaliBurger grill while its human helpers also receive a crash course in how to work efficiently alongside the robot, USA Today noted.
