NORTH Korea has compared US President Donald Trump to a moth attracted to a fire, urging the US president to back off or “perish in the flames”.

North Korea issued the USA with a stern warning of “nuclear war” following joint military drills with Japan this month.

The hermit state said the US and Japan had held “frantic” and “reckless” military drills, which Kim Jong-un has previously condemned as preparation for war.

North Korea accused the US of obsessing over the Pacific region and said Japan wanted to seize power of a “Greater Asia”.

The threats were issued in Rodong Sinmum, a Pyongyang based state-run newspaper, earlier today.

The propaganda rag said: “The US and Japanese warmongers staged ‘combined air-defence and missile-shielding drill’ from February 16 to 23.

“The US and Japanese reactionaries’ reckless act is the dangerous military provocation for spoiling the hard-won atmosphere for improvement of the north-south relations and peace on the Korean peninsula and provoking a war.

“It is the headache for the US obsessed with its stratagem for dominating Asia-Pacific and Japanese reactionaries going frantic with moves for reviving militarism and re-invasion that the situation on the Korean peninsula is eased.

“The Japanese reactionaries are also foolishly trying to realise their old dream of the “Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere” with the backing of their U.S. master overheated with war fever.”

The report warned of “nuclear war” if Washington and Tokyo did not back off before bizarrely comparing Kim’s many enemies with a moth drawn to a flame.
