A 16-year-old boy from Georgia has been charged with terroristic threats for allegedly sharing a video on social media that shows him loading a gun and threatening his high school.

The unidentified student at South Gwinnett High School was arrested on Saturday by Snellville police, who were tipped to the video via Twitter.

In the video, the person loading a black handgun says off-camera, ‘South Gwinnett, you’re next.’

WSB-TV reported that local police do not believe the student, who is enrolled as a sophomore at South Gwinnett, planned to carry out a mass shooting at his school, but the video was alarming enough to spark an investigation, which resulted in his arrest.

Principal Monique Lee wrote in a letter sent to parents in the community that acts threatening the school won’t be tolerated.

In addition to the criminal charges, the teenage suspect also faces school disciplinary actions.

Schools around the US, including in Atlanta and its suburbs, have been on edge in the wake of the mass shooting at a Parkland, Florida, high school that claimed 17 lives on Valentine’s Day.

A day later, a student at Lanier High School in Gwinnett County was charged with bringing a gun to class, according to Atlanta Journal Constitution.

In September 2017, a student at Gwinnett South High School was arrested after being caught with a loaded 9mm gun on campus.
