Mr Soros came under fire last week after it emerged he had donated £400,000, through one of his foundations, to Best for Britain

Best for Britain’s CEO Eloise Todd in an editorial said the group has “only one aim – to stop Brexit and do what’s best for Britain”.

Mr Soros has made no secret he believes holding the EU referendum was a “fatal error” and the billionaire has renewed his pledge to fight against the UK’s decision to leave.

Citing his love for Britain and “democracy” after escaping Nazi Germany, the billionaire blasted Brexit as a “lose-lose proposition both for Britain and for Europe”.

He told the Mail: “Prior to Brexit, Britain enjoyed the best of all possible worlds: it was a member of the European Union without adopting the euro.

“Britain, outside Europe, will lose much of its global influence.

“Economically, Britain will suffer because 45 years of successful integration with Europe will go into reverse.

“There is no such thing as a friendly divorce.”

“To make matters worse, the divorce process will preoccupy both Britain and Europe for years ahead, when they should be uniting to resist external enemies like Putin’s Russia and resolve the internal contradictions that made some people regard the EU as their enemy.”

According to polling expert Sir John Curtice, the result for a second EU referendum is unlikely to have changed since Britain voted to leave the Brussel bloc on June 23, 2016.

Mr Soros faced huge backlash after it was revealed he donated thousands of pounds to Best for Britain to thwart Brexit.
