A defiant President Trump roared ‘We don’t apologize anymore,’ as he concluded his pep talk to GOP lawmakers Thursday from a West Virginia resort.

‘And there’s one more very important promise we’re keeping,’ Trump said addressing Republican members of Congress gathered at the ritzy Greenbrier resort. ‘No longer are we making apologies for America.’

The promise, in a speech where Trump boasted that he had over-delivered in his first year in office – saying he accomplished ‘promises-plus,’ – was a pointed rebuke at his predecessor President Obama, who conservatives often labeled as an American apologist.

During his eight years in office, President Obama traveled to Hiroshima, where the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb, and to Vietnam, where American soldiers fought a decades-long war.

The GOP often labeled these excursions an ‘apology tour.’

Obama also ran for president on issues like closing the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, as many of his liberal supporters were concerned over reports of torture of detainees and violations of inmates’ civil rights.

During Tuesday night’s State of the Union speech, Trump announced he was rescinding Obama’s executive order to close the site, and that the detention center would remain open.

Trump brought his decision back up again today.

‘We can’t treat them the way we do the ordinary criminal,’ the president said of the remaining detainees.

Trump, always the real estate guy, marveled at American accomplishments like the swiftness in which the Empire State Building was constructed, and the fact that the country was the first to get to the Moon.
