With Japan and South Korea, American troops will hold two days of missile tracking exercises amid growing fears over North Korea’s military capabilities.

This will be the sixth time the militaries from the three countries have worked together to track ballistic missiles, the US defence force said.

Last week American and South Korean air forces staged military training which North Korea warned was pushing the region to the brink of war.

However the hermit state has inflamed the tense situation by firing missiles over Japan despite international sanctions.

And it has dramatically accelerated its nuclear weapons program by staging several underground tests.

On November 29, Kim Jong-un launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) which he bragged was capable of reaching the United States mainland.

The chubby tyrant has been exchanging repeated barbs with US President Donald Trump since he was sworn into office in January.

The US warned North Korea’s leadership it would be “utterly destroyed” after a missile test last month.

Kim regularly threatens the US, Japan and South Korea and claims his weapons development is necessary for protection.

Nearly 30,000 American troops are station over the border, a legacy of the 1950-53 Korean War.
