North Korea’s calculations to strike are being affected by Donald Trump’s recent air drills in South Korea, according to Kiron Skinner.

Fears of World War 3 continue to grow with the persistent verbal conflict between Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump.

Skinner told Fox News that although “preemption is something that we have to think about a lot more carefully and daily, it’s not where we want to be”.

She said: “The fact of the matter is that the nuclear blackmail that the North Korean regime is trying to oppose on the United States is something we cannot ignore.”

Skinner believes the recent air drills by the United States in South Korea are a testament to US military expertise in the air.

She said: “The recent air drills that are taking place by the United States and the government in Seoul are so important because they show the quantity and the quality of US military prowess in the air.

“There has been a qualitative and quantitative difference in what we’ve been doing in this military drills in 2017 due to the provocations that the North Koreans continually have put forward through their various missile tests.”

On Tuesday, former US Ambassador John Bolton told Fox News North Korea’s ability to strike anywhere in the US is “very close”.

He added: “There isn’t a lot of time to fool around. There is not much of a margin of error if we are going to use military force.

“If we don’t then you have a North Korea that can extort and blackmail the United States and sell this technology around the world.”
