The Japanese coastguard picked up a decaying corpse found floating off the coast of Sakata.

Meanwhile, another two corpses were found washed up on a nearby beach 30 minutes later.

Coastguard officers found one of the dead bodies had a pin identifying them as North Korean.

The corpses were found just days after an abandoned boat was found washed ashore over the weekend.

Mysterious ghost ships have been drifting into Japanese waters since 2013 – with dozens of corpses found aboard.

And the coastguard have found 28 of the vessels this November alone.

At least 18 bodies have been found on the ghost ships in 2017 as pressure is ramped up on North Korea.

Japanese coastguard patrols have been ramped up to help tackle the outbreak.

Winds and currents push the ill-equipped boats into waters off Japan leading to the grim discoveries.

Authorities believe the ships are fishing boats not equipped to brave the waters of the Sea of Japan.

They also could be vessels full of people attempting to flee from North Korea.

Theories about the increase in numbers this year is due to Kim’s pressure for food.
