China sends WAR PLANES close to North Korea in show of force amid US drills
CHINA has flaunted its air power by flying military aircraft close to North Korea as the US carries out unprecedented war drills in the tinderbox region.

A Chinese reconnaissance aircraft conducted training exercises over the Yellow Sea and East China Sea – south west of North Korea, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) said Monday.
The intelligence aircraft was sent by China’s Air Force to “improve combat-readiness and safeguard the country’s strategic interests”, the PLA said.
Shen Jinke, spokesperson for the PLA’s Air Force, said the aircraft took part in drills alongside fighter jets, alert aircraft and surface-to-air missile forces.
The spy plane, dispatched from an unidentified airbase in northern China, flew a route that the army had not used before, according to the PLA.
Meanwhile, South Korea and the US kicked off a major air force drill involving two dozen US stealth jets on Monday.
The drills, lasting five days, come just a week after North Korea tested an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) thought to be capable of reaching the US – its most advanced yet.
The communist nation today condemned the military exercises, warning they will push the world to “the brink of nuclear war”north korea .
Wang Yi, China’s foreign minister, said the resurfacing of tensions was “regrettable” after more than two months of relative calm.
