BRINK OF BREXIT: May says UK ‘within touching distance’ of deal with Brussels

THERESA May has promised the UK is “within touching distance” of a Brexit deal with Brussels.

Theresa May said some issues remained with the EU but a deal was now “within touching distance”.

The PM said Brexit negotiations with Brussels had been “constructive” and said she is “ambitious and positive” about the UK’s future once talks end.

She said her first priority was the rights of EU citizens in the UK and the rights of UK citizens living in the EU.

Mrs May said of EU citizens living in Britain: “We want them to stay.”

She said “a small number of issues” are outstanding but Britain and the EU are “within touching distance of a deal”.

Once again the Prime Minister said there will be no “physical infrastructure” on the Irish border.

And she said the issue of the Brexit bill was still being issued with the UK’s negotiators going through Britain’s

She reiterated: “Mr Speaker: we are going to leave the European Union in March 2019.”
