North Korea may have up to six million soldiers ready to fight, however, an expert has claimed they only have the firepower and supplies to fight for three weeks.
The hermit nation’s despot leader Kim Jong-un has the world on edge after his threats to US President Donald Trump sparked fears World War 3 could break out.
Donald Trump promised he would “totally destroy” North Korea if the rogue state continued to threaten the USA and its allies.
Despite international condemnation and sanctions, Kim Jong-un has continued with his nuclear weapons programme, test firing missiles over Japan in the process.
Dr Bruce Bechtol, a professor at Angelo State University in Texas and the Pentagon’s former top Northeast Asia analyst, said North Korean forces to be forced to live off the land within three weeks of conflict breaking out.
He told BBC Radio 4’s Analysis programme: “The North Koreans have two to three weeks of stocks – ammunition, food, fuel – to fight a war.
“That’s all they’ve got. So, their war plan has to include accomplishing all of the goals they have within that short time frame because after that, they’re living off the land.”
The USA’s own war machine would only be arriving on the Korean peninsula as North Korea’s military begins to fall apart through its lack of supplies.
