It may have taken over an hour for police to break into the Las Vegas gunman’s hotel room, but they located him much faster than originally reported.

This is according to an official timeline of the shooting released by police Wednesday evening.

The new timeline reports that Stephen Paddock started shooting at the crowds gathered for the Route 91 Music Festival at exactly 10:05pm Sunday night, citing closed-circuit television from the concert venue.

Seven minutes later, cops on the 31st floor of the Mandalay Bay resort and casino reported that the gunman was firing directly one floor above them.

Police say the gunman stopped shooting three minutes later, and that two minutes after that, the first two police officers arrived on his floor.

That means that officers had located Paddock in just 12 minutes.

Previous reports that it took officers more than an hour to breach his hotel room aren’t incorrect though.

Since Paddock had stopped shooting, officers cleared the floor first and made sure no one was injured before they finally blew Paddock’s door off it’s hinges at 11:20pm.

When they got inside the room, they found the 64-year-old dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

They also realized that he had another adjoining room that was locked, so they breached that one seven minutes later and found no one inside.
