A former Las Vegas police officer said Monday the amount of time the shooting went on interfered with the ability of first responders to get to the area.

“The shooting went on for somewhere in the area of 15, 20 minutes, so that interfered with getting the first responders into the area,” Randy Sutton said on CBS “This Morning.”

Sutton said the gunman planned the “horrific shooting immaculately.”

“When you look at what his field of fire was, the way that he prepared himself by having multiple firearms, by having the ability to have enough ammunition to rain down hell on those poor innocent people that were doing nothing except enjoying themselves,” he said.

At least 50 people are dead and 400 others injured after gunfire broke out Sunday night during a country music festival in Las Vegas.

The suspected gunman, identified as Stephen Paddock, was killed at the scene, police said.

President Trump on Monday expressed his sympathies for those affected by the attack.

“My warmest condolences and sympathies to the victims and families of the terrible Las Vegas shooting. God bless you!” Trump tweeted.
