Fears are mounting that Kim Jong-un may order an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack on Seoul’s financial infrastructure.
The secretive armed service units could be deployed to launch a “regime change” within months.
The elite unit will consist of members of the SAS’s Special Project Team, along with a specialist nuclear, chemical and biological warfare unit.
Sources told the Daily Star that SAS soldiers are set to team up with US Delta Forces and a South Korean elite commando force.
They believe that forces could enter the hermit state by air, land and sea with the help of North Korean defectors.
The source emerged after a Government think-tank warned that tensions between the US and North Korea are now so high that war is “a real possibility” and Britain must prepare for the worst.
