This is the shocking moment one of Mexico City’s most popular tourists attractions was turned into a frothing torrent when a 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck the country on Monday
American tourist Alyne Tamir filmed on her phone as the quake’s vibrations turned the usually tranquil canals of Xochimilco, in the north of the city, into a undulating, quivering mess.
While she can be heard saying ‘it’s not a good idea to be on this boat’, it seems she was one of the lucky ones as at least 248 people were killed elsewhere.
