TWO armed men have entered a restaurant in Barcelona after tourists were mown down in a terror attack on Las Ramblas, killing 13 and more than 50.

• Armed police have stormed Barcelona city centre as second van is searched 40 miles away

• Police confirm 13 dead and 50 injured, many seriously

• One person has been arrested and one is being hunted – another has been killed in a police shootout

People were hit by the van on the popular tourist strip in the Catalan capital on Thursday afternoon.

Horror images have emerged of people laying bloodied in the street as 13 people are dead.

Urgent messages have been released by police as they hunt a man in connection with the terror attack.

Local media initially reported a Turkish restaurant on Carrer Tallers, near to the Boqueria food market, was at the centre of a hostage situation.

Witnesses said people were held in Luna Istanbul Restaurant, but police have denied any civilians are caught up in the drama.

Armed police have moved in to the city centre as they hunt for the driver – or drivers.

One person has been shot dead, La Vanguardia reports.

Officers said they are looking for a man of 5ft 5ins (1.7m) in height, wearing a white shirt with blue stripes.

Local media reports say he was one of the men in the restaurant.

The paper claims that according to his profile in social networks, the young man is called Driss Oukabir and he lives in the town of Ripoll, in Gerona.

A police Twitter statement said: “If you are if you are in the area of Plaça Catalunya in Barcelona stay where you are until the police says that you can get (out).”
