The Lincoln Memorial in DC has been defaced after a week of statues being vandalized around the US.
The National Park Service says they discovered one of the pillars on the Lincoln Memorial with ‘F**k law’ spray painted in red at around 4.30am on Tuesday.
It wasn’t the only vandal attack on the National Mall Tuesday. The NPS also found undecipherable silver graffiti on a map of the Smithsonian Museum.
The defacing of the Lincoln Memorial is just the latest attack on monuments in the wake of the violence in Charlottesville over the weekend.
This past weekend, a group of white nationalist protesters showed up in Charlottesville, Virginia, to fight the city’s planned removal of a monument in honor of Confederate General Robert E. Lee. The demonstrations and chaos that ensued resulted in three dead.
Protesters in Durham, North Carolina would not wait for any plan to be implemented for the possible removal of a statue of a confederate solider. Activists there ripped it down themselves.
The Lincoln Memorial and the Smithsonian sites are being cleaned up.
But the damage to the Lincoln Memorial is a bit trickier to remove, according to reports.
