‘Derail trains!’ Al Qaeda releases manual urging lone wolves to target Europe’s railways
AL QAEDA is urging “European lone wolves” to target railways and derail trains in a shocking manual directing potential jihadis on how to cause terror in the West.

The instructions, to be published in the next issue of Inspire, advise individuals to attack railroads in Western countries “using easily accessible materials”.
Followers can directly target the train from “either inside or from outside” or target “the rail itself so as to derail the train”.
Or supporters of the terror group can target train stations, which “are always crowded and cause major interruption towards the transportation system”.
The magazine’s 17th issue is headlined ‘Train Derail Operations’ and spells out ways to create disasters on the railways – a transportation system that lacks the heightened security levels of airline travel.
Discovered by Site, a website which monitors the media and messages of jihadist groups, an 18-page guide to building a derail tool is included in the 97-page electronic magazine and signed by the ‘AQ Chef’.
Hours after reports of the new Inspire magazine were released, the New York Police Department (NYPD) Counterterrorism Bureau tweeted a series of messages.
One read: “We’ve known about the content & threats presented in the current issue of AQAP’s Inspire 17 prior to its release.”
Another added: “Our robust multi-layered counterterrorism apparatus is designed to protect our air, land, waterways and railways in #NYC.”
