Powerful 6.5-Magnitude Quake Hits Southwestern China

A 6.5 earthquake magnitude occurred on Tuesday in the Sichuan province in southwestern China, the Chinese Seismological Center reported.
BEIJING (Sputnik) — The tremors were registered at 21:19 local time (04.19 pm Moscow time) in Jiuzhaigou district of the Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. The epicenter was located at the depth of 8 kilometers (some 5 miles), according to the report.
No information about the victims or material destruction caused by the earthquake have been received so far, the center said.
