Thomas Homan is the acting director of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agency, and he had nothing but good news in a recent interview with the Washington Examiner.

Since the President’s election, illegal border crossing have plummeted by an amazing 70%, and arrests within the country have climbed by 40% and the number of illegal criminals being reported to ICE by local jails has gone up by 80%! The numbers are simply astonishing, and they are game-changing for the men and women working in immigration enforcement and border protection.

Homan explained that while some folks may not like President Trump, his efforts on illegal immigration are working. “You can like President Trump, not like him, like his policies, not like his policies, but one thing no one can argue with is the effect they’ve had. You’d think everybody would be celebrating these policies.”

Homan says that ICE and Border Patrol agents are almost uniformly happy with the job that the President has done thus far. “Now they have meaning to their jobs, what this president has done is taken the handcuffs off of law enforcement officers who are charged with enforcing immigration laws.”

Homan added that the drop in illegals entering the country had given ICE the opportunity to redirect their resources away from the border and towards the interior of the nation. Now ICE could focus on illegals currently sitting in prison, those who are working illegally, and other who are on the run from the law. It’s also allowing ICE to take a hard look at so-called Sanctuary Cities that continue to violate our federal laws and work to protect lawbreakers within their borders. Homan called sanctuary cities “ludicrous,” saying that, “In the America I grew up in, cities didn’t shield people who violated the law.”
