US analysts monitoring the communist nation believe it could conduct another nuclear test “at any time”.

Despite “no new activity” at its nuclear facility, the test will take place when supreme leader Kim Jong-un “makes the decision to do so”, it is claimed.

Satellite images of North Korea’s Punggye-ri site suggest another nuclear test could be imminent, US researchers have said.

Analysis on the 38 North website states there has been an “overall clean-up” at the site, suggesting it is being prepared for a test at short notice.

The worrying analysis comes after North Korea tested a deadly ICBM thought to be capable of reaching US shores.

In the wake of the launch, South Korea’s defense minister said he sees a high possibility of North Korea conducting a sixth nuclear test.

The totalitarian state has carried out five nuclear tests – in 2006, 2009, 2013 and twice last year.

At the G20 Summit in Hamburg, US President Donald Trump told Chinese President Xi Jinping “something has to be done” to stamp out the North Korea nuclear threat.
