Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts has been partially evacuated over concerns of a possible bomb.

Bomb squads were called after a truck trying to enter the Bedford, Massachusetts base tested positive for ‘potentially explosive material during a routine stop around 9am Thursday morning.

It’s unclear whether officials have actually found a bomb. They said only that there was a ‘concern’ during the vehicle inspection at a base gate that made the Big Foot moving truck ‘suspicious’.

A spokesman for the moving company told WBZ that they are unsure what is going on at the base.

They said that the truck was only supposed to be carrying household goods, and was scheduled to make the delivery at the base.

Shortly before 11am, the Massachusetts State Police released this statement: ‘At approximately 0945 hours today we were notified of a suspicious truck that had been stopped by base security at Gate 1 at Hanscom Air Force Base. A standard screening of the truck and its cargo revealed indicators of potentially hazardous material. The Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad has responded and our Air Wing is responding as well. As a safety precaution, an area around the gate has been evacuated.’

Hansom Air Force Base officials said what was found ‘potentially explosive material,’ in a press release of their own.
