The group of victims, residents, faith leaders and volunteers arrived at Downing Street just before 2pm.

The group wore white wristbands in a show of solidarity.

Mrs May invited the residents to Downing Street amid a publicity storm which has seen her criticised for her handling of the tragedy.

The group was brought together by Graham Tomlin, the Bishop of Kensington.

Mrs May listened to the concerns raised at the meeting and said she intended to use them to inform how the Government responds, a Government source said.

Following the meeting, victims of the Grenfell fire were applauded by demonstrators as they left Downing Street.

In a short statement, one of the residents said that they “wanted to speak in their own constituency of north Kensington”.

They said that they had only been given two hours to make their way to Downing Street today.

The spokesman for the group of 15 people was emotional as he told the media that they had given Theresa May a “list of demands” during the meeting.
