Multiple people are believed to have been injured in the incident at the sprawling UPS building in the Potrero Hill area, located at 320 San Bruno Avenue.

Sources said several victims have been shot and many individuals were transported to a nearby hospital.

Reports suggest two were killed in the incident and at least five injured in the gun fire.

And unconfirmed reports suggest the shooter has also been shot and is being taken to a hospital – but police have confirmed they have an unidentified person in custody.

Witnesses say they heard several shots and saw people running out the UPS building.

One UPS worker said the fire alarm sounded and people fled the building, while the shooter went on a rampage on the third floor.

While workers on a company-sponsored bus were screaming for the driver to go as they desperately tried to flee the scene.

Brent Andrew, from the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, says the emergency department had multiple admissions from theUPS shooting and “we expect more”.

No officers were injured in the shooting.

In a series of tweets that began just after 9 am, police said to avoid the area of 17th Street and Vermont Avenue.

Police officials did not immediately say if anyone was wounded or killed but officers are urging those in the area to “shelter in place” until further notice.
