NORTH Korea is preparing to knock out electricity supplies in attacks that cannot be prevented, a US politician has warned.

Former US Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said a “weaponised electromagnetic pulse” North Korea “may already be able to execute and would be devastating to the United States”.
His warning comes after the hermit state completed its ninth ballistic missile test this week – despite numerous warnings from world leaders.
As he fired the missile, supreme leader Kim Jong-un threatened a bigger “gift package” would soon be on its way to the US.
Now Mr Gingrich has said the Americans need to worry about more than being obliterated by nuclear weapons.
Writing for Fox News, he said he said an EMP attack on the country would not be “simple, isolated blackouts” but ones that could encompass entire regions and take years to fix.
He said: “Non-perishable foods would spoil from lack of refrigeration. Hospitals would run out of life-saving, temperature-controlled medications within days.
“Dialysis and other medical devices would stop working.
“Water systems that rely on electricity would stop pumping water and pipes would burst from the weight and pressure.
“The cascade of consequences of a protracted regional power outage would be devastating.”
