Strong 6.6 magnitude earthquake hits Indonesia
INDONESIA has been struck by a strong earthquake.

The earthquake struck at around 3.35pm BST (9.35pm local time) and registered 6.6 magnitude.
It hit the Sulawesi region in the north of the country at a depth of around 9.4 kilometres – unusually shallow.
The USGS estimate up to 200,000 people could have felt “strong” to “very strong” shaking during the quake.
Indonesia is located on the infamous Ring of Fire, a area in the basin of the Pacific Ocean where a large number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur.
The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics said there was no threat of a tsunami.
