Pyongyang officials clamouring for the extradition of terrorists who they say backed a plan by the CIA and South Korea’s intelligence agency to attack Mr Kim with a bio-chemical substance.

The Central Public Prosecutors Office said it will “sternly punish the mastermind of state-sponsored terrorism and accomplices.”

South Korea’s spy chief Lee Byong-ho headed up the list of four suspects that are being blamed as plotters.

Lee could soon be replaced by Suh Hoon at the National Intelligence Service (NIS) if parliament rubber stamps his appointment.

Prosecutors have called for them to be quickly extradited from the country by Seoul and Washington.

The state-run Korean Central News Agency said in an English statement: “The US and South Korea shall promptly arrest all the organisers, participants and followers of the extra-large state-sponsored terrorist crime against the supreme leadership of (North Korea) and deliver them to it.”

But the controversial claims have yet to be independently verified.

South Korea’s spy agency has hit back in the wake of the claims.

North Korea claims the NIS has joined forces with the CIA and bribed a North Korean timber worker, who has the surname Kim, in Russia back in June 2014 and converted him to terrorism.
