More than 2,000 families have been moved away from Mount Sinabung in Indonesia, which is now spewing out smoke and lava.
It’s an area notorious for it’s deadly volcanism and Mount Sinabung is just 25 miles from the site of a huge catastrophe.
Nearby Lake Toba was once the site of a supervolcano that erupted 75,000 years ago and nearly ended mankind.
The eruption is believed to have caused a global volcanic winter and left barely 10,000 people alive.
Authorities have now thrown up a 7km restricted area around Mount Sinabung on the Indonesian island of Sumatra.
In recent days it’s been erupting repeatedly, pumping out clouds of hot gas up to 3km into the sky, local sources are claiming.
The volcano, which eerily resembles Mount Doom in Lord of the Rings – Frodo’s final destination, can be seen erupting with bright orange lava.
