BRTIAN’S new nuclear-powered and cruise missile bristling £1 billion attack submarine has emerged for the first time.

HMS Audacious, a monstrous 318ft long and 7,400 tonnes, will be dumped into water for the first time at Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.

The warships is capable of firing cruise missiles around 750 miles and is one of the most advanced vessels in the world.

Armed with state-of-the art weapon systems and a powered by a nuclear reactor, the fearsome ship is expected begin sea trials within the year.

HMS Audacious if the fourth of seven Astute class submarines being rolled out by BAE Systems for the Royal Navy.

The attack sub – which has been under construction for 10 years – is designed to be invisible to enemy sonar, but can hear other ships from up to 3,000 miles away with her radar systems.

When she comes into service, Audacious will be armed with Spearfish torpedoes to sink other ships and Tomahawk missiles to blitz targets on land.

Pictures show the massive dark grey bulk looming from the shipyard as it is edged towards the docks.

HMS Audacious dwarfs all the high-vis and hard-wearing workman around it as its bow cautiously appeared into the sun from Devonshire Dock Hall.

Atop the deadly vessel sat the Union Jack flag fluttering in the wind above its official “Audacious” white and gold anchor crest.

Meanwhile, Russia revaled plans for the world’s biggest ever nuclear submarine designed to conquer the Arctic.
